New and Upcoming Cars You Should Know About
From new technology and safety features to faster engines and lower-emissions vehicles, the automotive industry is changing at a rapid pace. Here’s a look at some of the most exciting new and upcoming vehicles.
Acura Type S Concept
Acura is known for producing stunning luxury vehicles. But the people at Acura also know a thing or two about producing a formidable performance car, like the iconic NSX. One of the performance-oriented things Acura has done in the past was to make a Type S variant for some of their models, a high-end option that featured more power, better handling and head-turning style.
In August 2019, Acura announced the return of its Type S variant, something that had been missing from their models for years. The new Type S Concept is amazing, sporting a custom Double Apex Blue Pearl paint job, four-lamp Jewel Eye® LED headlights, a carbon spoiler and 21-inch wheels. While not in production yet, the Type S Concept is a look at Acura’s return to performance.
Honda Civic Type R
While it’s not technically new, the Civic Type R’s introduction to the U.S market in 2017 created quite a stir, especially among the racing community. For years, the Type R was available only overseas, leaving American drivers unable to get their hands on Honda’s top-level Civic.
The Honda Civic Type R is anything but another economy car. With its hatchback body, aggressive exterior styling, massive spoiler and 306-horsepower, 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission, the Civic Type R a worthy addition to this list.
Lexus LC Convertible Concept
The Lexus LC Coupe is a display of Lexus’ prowess when it comes to blending style and performance, and the Lexus LC Convertible Concept is no exception. While not in production (or at least not yet), the LC Convertible will be at the top of everyone’s shopping list if it does hit showrooms. Expect similar styling and handling to what’s found in the Coupe version, plus the option to drop the top and soak up the sun.
Volkswagen I.D. Buzz Concept
With plans to eventually go completely electric, the I.D. BUZZ is an exciting look at Volkswagen’s future plans, and just one of several concept I.D. vehicles that brand is planning to make. With style inspiration from the classic Microbus, the I.D. BUZZ is expected to hit the market in 2022. It will feature a fully-electric powertrain, a 369-horsepower electric motor, reconfigurable seating options and controls that look like something from a spaceship.
